Jacky Cheng joins SPACED Board of Directors

We are pleased to announce that Jacky Cheng has been appointed as the newest member of SPACED’s Board of Directors.    

Jacky Cheng is a practicing artist and arts educator based in Yawuru Country, Broome. As a previous SPACED 4: Rural Utopias resident artist and a member on the Board of Directors of Regional Arts WA, Jacky will be an asset to the SPACED Board, bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a unique perspective as a regional artist.

A highly-recognised artist born in Malaysia and based in Western Australia, Jacky holds a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons 1), UNSW and VET training qualifications facilitating skill-based training in remote and regional WA. Her recent accolades include the 46th Fremantle Art Centre Print Award (2023), John Stringer Prize (2022), AILA National Landscape Architecture Award for Small Projects (2023); finalists in National Works on Paper, VIC (2024, 2022) and 67th Blake Prize, NSW (2022). Jacky was an artist-in-residence with SPACED 4: Rural Utopias (2022) program which culminated in a group exhibition at Art Gallery of WA (2023). She has attended residencies in Japan, Finland, Spain and Australia, and was a selected artists in Regional Assembly 2023/24 (Regional Arts Australia) connecting with cultural practitioners working in regional and remote geographies across Australia, Asia and the Pacific. Her work has been acquired by public and private collections and included in numerous group exhibitions. Jacky is also a lead artist in the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial 2024 at Fremantle Art Centre.
