Rural Utopias event: Japanese Stab Stitch Book Binding with Jacky Cheng
Jacky Cheng is currently working with the community of Margaret River. This residency forms part of one of Spaced’s current programs, Rural Utopias.
In this book binding workshop, Jacky will share 2 simple Japanese Stab Stitch book binding techniques. All book binding tools will be supplied. You are welcome to bring any of your own bespoke papers to the workshop. Some learning materials (papers) will be supplied for you during the course. You will walk away with a new skill and some notes along with supplier information so that you can continue your journey in making your own bespoke Japanese Stab-Stitch Book.
Optional:
Bring your own special threads/ ribbon/ soft fibre.
Bespoke papers
Any vintage papers, prints, maps etc.

Jacky Cheng is an artist-in-residence in Margaret River through Spaced WA. This project was commissioned by Spaced as a part of the Rural Utopias thematic residency to encourage community engagement, foster new regional relationships, skill sharing and provide mentorship and professional development to host producer Francesco Geronazzo from Margaret River Printmaking and Margaret River Makers.
