Know Thy Neighbour #3 panel discussion with UWA’s Empowering Communities through Design unit

As part of UWA’s Empowering Communities Through Design masters unit coordinated by Lara Camilla Pinho, speakers from Know Thy Neighbour #3 will be discussing their work and reflecting on community engagement.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Panellists will include Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson and Amy Perejuan-Capone, with Mayma Awaida (Curator, Know Thy Neighbour #3) and Soula Veyradier (Director Programs, Spaced) as moderators.

Know Thy Neighbour #3 presented by Spaced with the UWA School of Design, is a provocation to the familiarity of place, asking communities to step outside of familiar engagements and locations; to seek out scenarios or contexts that defamiliarize and recontextualise ‘the local’ for audiences, communities, or the artists themselves and ask how we can meaningfully engage in the making of our cities.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Empowering Communities Through Design unit is part of the Social Impact Design focus area at the UWA School of Design and seeks to use design approaches and frameworks to address global issues (social, economic, environmental and political) by establishing the value of design to a broader audience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The panel discussion is free and open to all students, staff and members of the public.
