Special thanks to our Rural Utopias community partners in Lake Grace

In our programs we work with community partners to foster new and more productive modes of interaction between contemporary artists and communities and to promote a dialogue between regional, metropolitan, and international perspectives.

Lake Grace is a small farming community located 350 kilometres south-east of Perth in the West Australian Wheatbelt. The area is geographically defined by the series of salt lakes that run south-north through the district including the large lake for which the town is named. While probably best known for producing champion footballers, Lake Grace is also home to a good number of artists and writers.

Lake Grace Regional Artspace Is a thriving multi-use Arts venue located in the South Eastern Wheatbelt programming a range of arts activities including exhibitions, workshops, creative experiences and community arts projects. The Lake Grace Regional Art Space is run as a non profit organisation and is supported by the community of Lake Grace and surrounding area. We work closely with the Lake Grace Artists’ Group and Lake Grace Creative Events to provide a place where cultural groups, artists, art supporters, arts workers, and likeminded people can come together in a creative environment.

For the Rural Utopias residency with Jo Darbyshire in Lake Grace, we have been generously supported by the Lake Grace Contemporary Art Space, which is currently housing Jo’s exhibition Rural Utopia/Radical Disappearance until Sunday 3 July 2022.

More information including opening times are available via our recent Exhibition Post.
