Know Thy Neighbour #3: Jessee Lee Johns, The Subiaco Object Exchange Documentation

In April the citizens of Subiaco were invited to “swap one thing for another thing” at artist Jessee Lee Johns’ Subiaco Object Exchange — an installation which complimented the exhibition ‘Know Thy Neighbour #3.’

Johns is founder and ambassador for ephemeral micro-nation The Commonwealth of New Bayswater. The exchange provided an opportunity for New Baysians to satiate their consumerist inclinations by swapping an unwanted object for one more desired.

Feedback from the City of Subiaco indicated the installation was mutually well received by their citizens who helped facilitate this weekend of foreign exchange. Special thanks to SVY (Subi Voice of Youth) who provided a solid workforce to get the exchange up and running.

Thank you to photographer Rory Arrigan who documented the build and launch of the object exchange, courtesy of the City of Subiaco.
