Spaced board member Dunja Rmandić joins Tura as General Manager
We share our enthusiasm with Tura as they welcome Dunja Rmandić to the new role of General Manager.
Dunja is highly experienced in the arts and cultural sector and has worked as a project manager, curator, board member, industry adviser and peer reviewer.
Dunja comes from seven years at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) as the Associate Curator Projects and more recently as acting Curator International Art.
With over 15 years’ experience in the sector Dunja has worked in commercial, public and artist-run galleries and has delivered partnership projects with Proximity Festival, Co3 Contemporary Dance Company, Lester Prize and Spaced.
Dunja now sits on the board of directors of Spaced, as well as the peer review panel for Australia Council for the Arts. She has also been selected to undertake the Australia Council Arts Leaders program this year.
Tura Chief Executive Officer and Artistic Director Tos Mahoney says Dunja joins the Tura team at an exciting time for the organisation.
“We are thrilled to have Dunja’s depth and breadth of experience on our team,” he says.
“Her appointment is invaluable in helping to guide Tura through a period of development, building on our highly successful programming particularly our regional community engagement.
“Dunja will bring her diverse skills and her national and international perspective to play a vital role in delivering our new strategic plan with its Australia-wide and global aspirations.”
A writer, sociology enthusiast and fierce advocate of contemporary creative cultures, Dunja’s career has focused on how creativity can help bring different points of view to the fore and better understand how we experience each other and ourselves.
Dunja says she looks forward to working with the Board and Staff at Tura to deliver brave artistic programs with positive social impact.
“The national standing and the reputation Tos Mahoney and his team have built over the years is truly impressive,” she says. “Given the experiential nature of the arts and culture sector, we have been particularly hard hit by the pandemic.
“Through its sustainability and agile practice, Tura has survived and indeed thrived.
“I believe Tura has an important role to play as an arts leader and I welcome the challenges the future may bring,” Dunja says.
