Artist: Tina Stefanou Work in progress Location: Carnamah, Western Australia Community partners: The North Midlands Project
About the artist: Tina Stefanou is an Australian-Greek artist based on Wurundjeri country in Wattle Glen, Victoria. With a background as a vocalist, she works undisciplined, with and across a diverse range of mediums, practices, approaches and labours: an embodied practice that she calls voice in the expanded field. Informed by diasporic experiences, Stefanou engages in sound as social practice and explores with and beyond the all-too-human and more-than-human voice.
About the community partner: North Midlands Project is a not-for-profit organisation working to strengthen communities through high-quality and engaging arts, culture, history and heritage experiences. Since incorporation in 2015 the organisation's Management Committee has been led by two unique sub-committees ‒ a Regional Advisory Team on the ground in the region and a group of Artistic, Cultural & Wellness Directors who are located across WA and who are specialists in their respective fields. The organisation has exhibition, studio and artist accommodation facilities in Carnamah and Geraldton. A community art venue for Mingenew is presently under development.
